Welcome to the Friends of Phil Website

Phil’s passion in life was coaching girls’ sports and teaching. A former “Coach of the Year”, Phil was known for his commitment and dedication to the students and athletes that he worked with over the years. To honor this passion, we have established a not-for profit foundation and are hosting this event to raise money that will benefit a female scholar athlete at Elmont Memorial High School. The foundation also seeks to support families in need who have had their lives affected by cancer.

This year, about 148,000 people will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer — cancer that occurs in the colon or the rectum. Prevention and early detection are key factors in controlling and curing colorectal cancer. Indeed, colorectal cancer is the second most preventable cancer, after lung cancer.

When the cancer is found early, initial treatment can often lead to an excellent outcome. The Friends of Phil Foundation believes that in Phil’s battle with cancer, unity is strength, knowledge is power and attitude is everything. This website has been created for you to learn about cancer, how it can be treated, and how it has impacted Phil’s life. This site is continually updated so please check back often!
